Minute to Win It. I’m sure most of you have seen the game show called “Minute to Win It.” Though I’ve never actually watched a full episode, I’ve used a lot of their challenges on Wednesday nights with our student ministry. It’s a neat concept, really. The bottom line is simple: you’ve got a challenge to do, but your time is limited to an excruciatingly short minute. Hence, you only have a minute to win it.
God is challenging me this morning. I had a pretty awesome meeting last night with some great youth pastors from here in our town at our Cabot Youth Ministries Network meeting. We’re working on the final details of our See You After The Pole event which will happen a week from tonight. Last night was my first meeting as a part of the network. As we talked about the importance of getting the gospel to students, God began to remind me again just how short our time is.
Jesus told His disciples one time that He had to “work the work of Him who sent Him while it is day, because the night is coming when no man can work.” With the change of seasons this time of year, surely we all understand the concept of a shorter day, right? The sun seems to set quicker and the night seems to come upon us sooner. So it is with life, especially in this day and age.
Our commission to share the gospel with every creature was one that Christ gave all believers before He went back to heaven. It’s a serious challenge, and one worthy of our full acceptance. If those of us who call ourselves Christians don’t take it upon ourselves to share the awesome message of God’s love and salvation for sinners with those who need to hear it "while it is day," who else will?
We’ve only got a short amount of time to do our job! Not only is life uncertain, but the world is even more so! If you believe the Bible to be God’s Word, then you’ve got to believe what it says about the return of Jesus. If you believe what it says about the return of Jesus, then you’ve got to believe that it could happen at any moment – literally! “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye” – that’s how fast our “minute to win” them will be over.
The town I live in is full of thousands upon thousands of students and kids that need Christ, not to mention the thousands upon thousands of adults in the same boat. The body of Christ has a tremendous job to do, not just in this town but all over the world. But it will only be accomplished – the mission will only be undertaken – if you and I, as individuals, commit ourselves to its cause.
The choice is yours. We’ve only got a little while. Their eternity is at stake. What’s it gonna be?
Please Pray:
*Continue to pray for the Summers, as they face the coming days of continued news and decisions about baby Morgan’s future.
*Continue to pray for Mary, as well as her family during her continued recover.
*Pray for a young man named Tanner and his two friends who were involved in an ATV wreck on Sunday. His mom is a friend of mine, and these are scary days for her and the family. Tanner has been moved to a step down unit, which means he’s improving! Continue to pray for his recovery, as well as that of the other young boy involved that is still in ICU.
That’s just a thought, and I welcome yours.
Until next time,
blake
