Be Real. Each day as I sit down at my kitchen counter with my Bible, prayer list, and laptop, I begin the day by thanking God for His amazing goodness He’s poured out into my life. And then I pray for each request on my prayer list, asking Him to pour His goodness into each life represented there. And then I ask Him to speak to me, and show me what it is I am to write about in this blog that day. And this morning, I’m simply hearing these 2 words: “Be Real.”
So today, short, sweet, and to the point as it may be, here’s my blog. Be real. Take off the mask today. The world doesn’t need to see how awesome you are. The world doesn’t need to see how capable you are of tackling every single problem that comes your way. The truth is, we can’t handle much of what comes to us in life on our own. We just can’t. So let’s stop trying to convince the world we can. The world doesn’t need to see our attempts to look good. They need to see us be real.
Let’s admit we’re nothing without Him. Let’s admit that just as we proclaim to the world their need of Him, we need Him too. We need Him every moment of every day of every week of every year. Stop pretending for once. Join me in this challenge to put down the masks and stop playing charades. Be real today. And as you live real, my prayer for you is simple: “May the peace of God guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Amen.
That’s just a thought, and I welcome yours.
Until next time,
blake

blake, i gotta tell you that even though you and i may not agree on some things, theological and political, that your blogs have really been a light for me. especially in the fairly recent past. you see, i have not been able to get to church as often as i would like to say i have for many varied reasons and your posts have been, in a way, my subsitiute. i find them so upllifting in a very non-obtrusive way and that, to me, is a true "God-send." i find your very eloquent (prob spelled that wrong :) )way of saying things that affect my everyday life to be an inspiration to be a better me and strengthen my relationship with God. though i am certainly full of questions (i blame that on the medical-scientific way my mind works) i am finding myself for the first time in a long time trying to rely more on faith than on cold hard evidence. for all of this i want to say "thank you and keep up the good work." by reading your facebook posts on my newsfeed everyday is obvious for whom you live your life and i am greatful for the work you do. you are by far the most helpful preacher i have had in the recent past. i hope you continue to gloirfy God with your words accessable to us on facebook that may be following you without your knowledge. on an even more personal note, would you please consider asking God to give you some words to say about patience (sp?) in dealing with people who are always negative and want to constantly drag you into the "gossip mill" and become as misserable as they are; and maybe even how to help them change to a more a positive attitude? I would really like some advice there. :) if i missed where you have already written on that topic you can send me the link via fb message or wall post. once again, thank you for all your hard work, i want you to know that at least one soul is hearing you and is benefiting from it.
